Government home care provides support to help retired seniors who wish to remain in their own home.
Help may include housekeeping and companionship, to bathing and getting dressed, to more involved care like nursing, physiotherapy or rehab. Along with making some changes to your home if you need them, maybe a lift for the stairs, a chair for the tub and some handrails throughout, home care helps you continue to live in your own home more safely and comfortably.
Referrals for government-funded home care and support services may be made by a family doctor, the senior themselves or family and friends, with the senior's knowledge and consent. The initial contact will result in the assignment of a case manager or "care coordinator".
